Eight Igueben train attack suspects have been charged to court in Edo state to give account of their roles in the kidnap of 20 passengers at the Tom Ikimi station.
TheNewsGuru.com, (TNG) exclusively reports the eight suspects as clearly stated in the charge sheet sighted by TNG are being charged under Section 2 (1) (2) of the Kidnapping Prohibition Law (Amendment) Law of Edo State, 2013.
The suspects listed in the charge sheet are Ighoko Mustapher Odion, 64, Okojie Dominic Ewa, 58, Ojie Patrick, 42, Friday Ighedejiemu, 51, Ibadin Hamilton, 59, Halilu Umaru, 28, Aminu Ibrahim, 25, Isa Aliyu, 25.
TNG recalls the suspects including two chiefs were arrested days after the attack and rescue operations carried which led to the freedom of the victims.
The kidnappers had demanded for a ransom of N20m for each of the abductees before they could regain their freedom but the Edo Police Command and other security operatives swooped on them and rescued the passengers.
Also recall the Edo Government had confirmed the arrest of two village chiefs in connection with the January 7 train attack which resulted in the kidnap of 20 passengers at the Igueben train station.
The state Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, disclosed that seven other suspects had also been arrested in connection with the incident, adding that two remaining passengers in captivity had also been rescued by security agents.
He revealed shortly after the state executive council meeting in Benin last Wednesday.
