Popular Nollywood actor cum politician, Desmond Elliot, has emerged as the winner of Surulere Constituency 1 for the Lagos State House of Assembly.

In the election conducted on March 18, 2023, Desmond polled a total of 17,837 votes to defeat his closest rivals Adebayo Bode of the Labour Party and Thompson Sulaimon Abolaji of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 7,822 and 1,042 votes respectively.

Following his victory in the election, the actor-turned-politician has been seen in a viral video thanking and rejoicing with his supporters as they celebrated his win.

Women and men in the gathering could be heard chanting in Yourba that ‘they voted and they won’.

Full of smiles, Elliot high-fived some of his people as he went around.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Elliot was elected as a lawmaker of the Lagos State House of AssemblySurulere Constituency, in the 11 April 2015 Nigerian General Elections.

He competed to become the ambassador for the Face of Hope Project, a “volunteer-based non-profit, non-religious, non-political organization established to give hope to the hopeless”, in which he will work toward fixing “child illiteracy in Nigeria and Africa at large” should he emerge.

He won best supporting actor in a drama at the 2nd Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards and was nominated for best supporting actor at the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards.
