Located in a vast area of land in Ovwodokpokpor-Olomu, Ughelli South Local Government Area of the State, Jakesville57 is meant to give fun-seekers the kind of comfort they get at home and much more.
Visitors, once they arrive at Jakesville57, are greeted with a kind of fresh air surrounding the river beach resort and farms that is different from the polluted air in the cities.
Jakesville57 offers a variety: a large open event arena for trade exhibitions and other outdoor events including open-air parties, two executive conference halls with sitting capacities up to 100, a modern and exclusive bar and grill, a sports bar and viewing centre, two large gazebos for outdoor sitting and parties, several standard and well-furnished rooms, an exclusive restaurant with assorted dishes.
Other attractions are two Olympic size swimming pools with a delineated children’s session, a games centre, a well-secured parking space for up to 100 cars, a mini-mart and an exquisite boutique for easy shopping.
Jakesville57 also has a children playground, artificial beaches and numerous fish lakes and farms with guaranteed maximum security and 24-hour power supply.
During his welcome address at the occasion of the grand opening of the river beach resort and farms, Olorogun Jacob Diedjomahor, the Founder/CEO of Jakesville57 said the initiative started four years ago when he disengaged from the services of Chevron as the Exploration manager after 31 years of service.
He said his goal was to up his contribution to the development of his community, Ovwodokpokpor, in particular, and Olomu in general.
“I have always been interested and involved in the development of Ovwodokpokpor, where I am currently the President General of Ovwodokpokpor Development Union.
“Before my retirement, I had gone into farming (cash crops, poultry, fishery and piggery) and upon retirement, I increased the scope of my farming activities and other economic endeavours in Ovwodokpokpor.
“I also started spending more time in Ovwodokpokpor. But I was still restless. I wanted to do more.
“In my restlessness, I remembered a resort I once visited in 2006 in London. It was in a very serene rural setting. Then it struck me I could do a similar thing in Ovwodokpokpor,” Olorogun Diedjomahor narrated.
He stated that since work started towards the realization of Jakesville57, Ovwodokpokpor and the larger Olomu has benefitted economically.
“And since the resort started operation, it has employed over 20 staff. More staff will be employed as activities increase. Of course, Jakesville57 has and will continue to have, ripple economic benefits in the local community,” Diedjomahor stated.
Present at the occasion of the grand opening of the world-class, first of its kind river beach resort was the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, HRM Richard Layeguen Ogbon-Oghoro 1, arguably the oldest monarch in the world.
Also present at the occasion was the wife of Diedjomahor, Olorogun Augustina Diedjomahor, the management and staff of Jakesville57, and the chairman of the occasion, Venerable Most Evangelist Emmanuel Evue.
Others are the guest of honour, Prince Austin Enajemo-Isire, members of Urhobo Social Club, Lagos, Diedjomahor’s former colleagues at Chevron, his fellow Olomu Chiefs, family members, friends and well-wishers from far and near.
