The National Coordinator of All Progressives Congress (APC) Volunteers Group, Ambassador Victor Walsh Olufemi has slammed celebrities in the country, including Mr Macaroni and Falz for rejecting the invitation by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a peace walk.
Walsh vehemently condemned what he described as unpatriotic, arrogant and insensitive response of the celebrities in the country to the call for a peace walk by the the Lagos State Governor, stressing that the peace walk was one of the ways to build relationship and winning the confidence of youths after the EndSars saga.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by Walsh’s Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Akin Makanjuola on Thursday.
It was stated in the release entitled: The Lagos Peace Walk- Our Stand that “it will be recalled that Gov.Sanwoolu had on Tuesday, revealed plans to organize a peace walk in December 2021 in commemoration of the EndSars Movement and as a way of closing the gap between government and the citizens.
“But in a swift reaction to this development some celebrities like Mr Macaroni, Falz and others have rejected outrightly Gov.Sanwo-Olu’s olive branch for a peace walk”.
The national coordinator APC volunteers, Mr Walsh queried, if they reject peace walk is it war walk they prefer, saying some youths in Lagos and other parts of the country have also condemned the belligerent stand of the celebrities.
Responding to the call Rinu, a popular artiste took to her Instagram page on Tuesday where she posted a picture of the governor on which she wrote…Mr Governor, you will walk alone.
The APC Volunteers National coordinator recalling the famous statement of British Prime minister, Wiston Churchill shortly after the second World war said, “it is always better to jaw, jaw than to war, war”.
