The Nigeria Police Force, @PoliceNG has come under intense fire after it was alleged to have photoshopped major parts of an image shared on Twitter.
The photo tagged “photo news”, shows a man and a woman who were arrested after six AK49 rifles were recovered from them. The tweet reads: L-R: Duleji Alhaji Abubakar a.k.a Ori jeje and Talatu Ibrahim from whom six (6) AK49 rifles were recovered.
According to an analysis by a BBC correspondent, Stephanie Hegarthy, one of the photos posted by the police claiming to show two suspects with arms haul reflected drastic colour differences, white background under mans arm, lack of reflection, blur around the weapons.
Nigerian netizens have joined the conversation of the alleged photo manipulation.
As at the time this report was filed the Nigeria police is yet to address the trending photoshop scandal on social media.
