A student of Geology, Ms. Olatimileyin Adejoke of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ekiti State, has emerged as the Best Female Graduating Student in the department for the 2019/2020 set.
She graduated with a 1st Class, CGPA : 4.56, which is very rare in her department.
This was as her colleague, Samuel Awoleke, graduated as Overall Best Graduating Student, with 4.85 CGPA.
While receiving an award, Adejoke expressed gratitude to her lecturers and the entire school management, saying “I am grateful. Words alone cannot express my gratitude. Thank you so much for the honour, thank you so much for the opportunity and above all, thank you so much for the recognition.”
Awoleke, on his part, explained that Geology was not the actual course he wanted to study.
In his words: “I wanted medicine but I wasn’t given it when I applied for the course at the University of Ibadan.
“This made me put in for Ekiti State University with the same course (medicine) but I was given geology because medicine was not accredited at that time.”
He noted that his admission into Ekiti State University was quite hard.
On how he feels to have emerged as the best graduating student in his department, Adeleke posited that he had wanted to be the best graduating student in his department.
“I was able to achieve this because I dedicated so much time to reading and preparing for examinations. I feel so happy achieving this feat,” he added.
