Fun lovers gathered last Sunday for the 9th edition of Steve Onu Yaw’s annual stage performance tagged: Apere (Basket) starring the musician, Sound Sultan .The duo of Yaw and Sound Sultan stunned many of their fans when they saw the theatrical talents of these entertainers.
Held at the prestigious Eko Convention Centre. Victoria Island Lagos, the event was not just about drama but also an evening of music and comedy. Entertainers like Funny Bone, Arole, Asiri, Kennyblaq, Emmaohmygod, Tiwa Savage, Solid Star, CDQ, Tjan, Skales and others electrified the audience with their performances.
The play, Apere chronicles the murky side of being a Nigerian. Allusions were made to contemporary Nigerian issues. It was a fusion of satire and comedy which didn’t just get the audience laughing but also thoughtful.
High points of the show
One indelible part of the show was when 2face and 9ice mounted the stage to perform the hit song Street credibility. The crowd cheered and screamed as the duo of 9ice and 2face took turns to deliver the vocals of the song. After their performance 2face appreciated 9ice for featuring him on the song . In his words:” I want to thank you 9ice for featuring me on Street Credibility”. 9ice in the same vein said he is the one who is more grateful to 2face for agreeing to feature on the song.
HumbleSmith shined bright with his performance. The Osinachi crooner performed with a live band and this made him exhibit his vocal prowess. He connected with the audience and got them singing along to his songs.
The atmosphere changed when Solid Star and Tiwa Savage performed their song together on stage .It was like the audience was waiting to be fed by the ingenuity of their crafts. They both owned the stage like maestros.
Self-proclaimed Port Harcourt’s first son, Duncan Mighty came on stage ready to show the stuff he is made of. He performed his hit songs like Obianuju” and “Port Harcourt son”. His performance was one of the high points of the show.
