Fast rising actress, Bose Oladimeji is one role interpreter who combines wit and talent to become extraordinary. The English graduate of Tai Solarin University of Education has starred in countless movies, especially in the Yoruba sector of Nollywood.
In this chat with TheNewsGuru, she opens up on her worst location experience, why celebrity marriages fail, among other issues
How did you get into the movie industry?
I got into the movie industry through a man called Oloko Oba. He made my passion for acting come alive.
What are the challenges of being an actress?
People have a wrong impression about actresses. They think we have all the monies in the world. The only challenge I face is the expectation. At times when I hang out with my friends, they believe I have so much and expect me to spend much because they think being an actress means you have a lot of money. It’s a wrong impression.
What has been your worst location experience?
My worst location experience was when I went to a location, to play a sub lead role and at the end of the job, there was no money to go home.
Have you ever been a victim of sex for roles?
I have never been a victim of sex for roles
Do you think celebs need to put their relationship in the public glare?
I don’t put my personal life in the public glare. I say no to that because your business should be different from your personal life, I don’t do it.
What do you think about the injection of sex scenes in movies?
We are professionals, we work according to the script, but we don’t have sex on screen. We always have ways of adopting improvisation. You shouldn’t also forget that the African culture doesn’t permit it
What has being in the limelight robbed you of?
I can’t go to the market and price food stuffs. There is a certain expectation that comes with being in the limelight. The market women expect you not to bargain for a good price because you are in the limelight. They don’t know that the money is not commensurate to what they think we are.
Why do you think celebrity marriages crash?
Though I am not married, but based on my observations and experience, some individuals in the limelight are not contented with what they have. They live their lives for social media. Truth is that there are numerous people out there waiting to hear the sad news about a celebrity.
I would advise my married colleagues to be contented with what they have and be patient. The husbands should refrain from lying and maltreating them. I believe all these can reduce the rate of failed marriages in the industry.
