The mother of the late student of Ajayi Crowther University Alex Timileyin, Antonia Emiko has reportedly landed in coma following the death of her son.
According to Itsekiri activist, ‘Lord Of Warri’ via the microblogging platform, X formerly Twitter, on Friday, the mother was ‘overcome with unbearable pain and sorrow’ over her only son’s death.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that Timileyi was allegedly beaten to death on campus by some students on the allegation of stealing a phone.
Timileyi’s death sparked outrage on social media with many Nigerians expressing shock, anger, and disbelief.
Giving an update, Lord of Warri, who is Timileyin’s relative, wrote, “Princess Antonia Emiko, mother of the late Prince Alex Timileyin, is in urgent need of your prayers. She lies hospitalized in a coma, overcome with unbearable pain and sorrow.
“The bond between a mother and her child is unbreakable, and her only son’s tragic loss has left her shattered.”
The activist also appealed to the police and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to ensure that those responsible for Timileyin’s death are held accountable.
“I also appeal to #oyostategovt, #OyoPoliceNG, and His Excellency #seyiamakinde to ensure that justice is served and those responsible for her son’s tragic death are held accountable.
“Let us rally around Princess Antonia with our thoughts and prayers, seeking comfort and strength for her in this darkest hour. May God’s grace and mercy be upon her and her family,” he said.
The police on Wednesday arraigned 25 students of the school in connection with the incident.
