President Bola Tinubu has approved the reappointment of Prof. Yusuf Bara as Chief Medical Director of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi and Prof. Abdurrahman Sheshe as the Chief Medical Director of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.
In separate statements on Wednesday by Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s spokesman, both Bara’s and Sheshe’s appointments are for a second and final term of four years each. According to Ngelale, the reappointment of Sheshe for a second and final term of four years is with effect from December 5, 2023.
“The President’s approval follows an assessment of Prof. Jibrin Bara’s performance in his first term in office. The President anticipates that with the renewal of his appointment, he will consolidate on the achievements recorded in his first term in office.
“The president expects that with the renewal of Prof. Sheshe’s appointment, he will re-dedicate himself to improving the standards of the hospital. He also expects he ensures the efficient delivery of qualitative services to the citizens,” Ngelale disclosed in the separate statements.
TNG reports Sheshe was first appointed as CMD on December 6, 2019.
Tinubu approves Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital, Nasarawa
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has approved the conversion of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, to the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital, Nasarawa.
In a statement on Wednesday by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, he said the approval followed a request by the Nasarawa State government.
“The conversion of the health facility to a federal teaching hospital will not only enhance the training of students in medical and allied sciences but also boost healthcare delivery in the state.
“President Tinubu remains committed to ensuring the social welfare and healthcare security of Nigerians. He will aggressively sustain his administration’s investment drive and efforts in the sector,” he said.
