A photo of an empty waiting area of the Murtala Muhammad International Airport, Lagos, has sparked reactions on social media.
This comes after a traveller, @Omo Kogi, via the microblogging platform, shared a photo of what he claims looked like Lagos airport on the morning of September 24.
The shared photo pictured an almost empty waiting area, with just a handful of passengers waiting.
OmoKogi wrote: “Empty airport this morning. Return ticket Lagos to Abuja is 143k.”
Reacting to the post, Nigerians lament about the high cost of flight tickets.
A user, Wadzani Apagu wrote: “An empty airport this morning. Return ticket Lagos to Abuja is 400k. Return ticket Lagos to Benin 320k. Money wey people dey take go London before. Nigerian is in dire straits. The middle class has been wiped out in one swoop. May the Lord deliver us.”
