About 700 Catholic Priests,  have staged a peaceful protest on Thursday at the burial of  Rev Fr. Vitus Borogo, who was killed by bandits in Kaduna State recently.

Recall that the Catholic priest was murdered  on Saturday at the Prison Farm, Kujama, along Kaduna-Kachia Road, after a raid on the farm.

The protesting priests carried placards with the inscription, ”We are Catholic priests and not terrorists”

Speaking at the Queen of Apostle Catholic Church, Archbishop of Kaduna Archdiocese, Most Reverend Matthew Ndagoso, lamented the rising insecurity in the country.

He stated that Nigeria has become a failed state under President Muhammadu Buhari due to the country’s security condition.

According to him, Nigerians live in perpetual fear and have become hopeless due to the rising attacks and killings, while the Federal Government seems to be incapacitated to tackle the problem.

The Bishop called on the government to establish state police to protect the vulnerable communities against bandits attacks since those saddled with the responsibility of protecting the lives and property of the citizens have failed to do so

Reacting to the killing of  Rev Fr. Vitus Borogo via his twitter handle, former Kaduna central senator  Shehu Sani,   condemned the killing of the cleric, saying something drastic must be done to nip banditry in the bud.

His tweet reads: “The killing of Reverend Father Vitrus Bogoro of the Kaduna polytechnic Catholic Church by terrorists in his farm in Kaduna is sad, unfortunate, and condemnable. My condolences to the Catholic community in Kaduna and his relations.”
