Former Nigerian ambassador to the United States, Israel, and Cyprus, Prof. George Obiozor, has emerged President General of the Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Polling a total 304 votes, Obiozor emerged in an election held at Dan Anyim stadium in Owerri, the Imo state capital, on Sunday.

He’s to replace Chief Nnia Nwodo.

George Obiozor, a Professor of Political Science, is a native of Awo-Omamma in Imo state.

However, other candidates for the position of the President General boycotted the election.

Meanwhile, the Board of Trustee member representing Rivers State at Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr Jackson Omenazu, who spoke to newsmen at the venue of the election, declared the process that brought Obiozor to power as fraudulent.
