BREAKING: Lagos commences demolition of defective buildings, 180 houses marked [Photo]

The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LABSCA) on Friday commenced demolition of defective buildings on Lagos Island.

TNG reports men of the agency’s task force are currently pulling down a four- storey building on 60A Freeman Street, Epetedo, area.

Today’s demolition exercise is not unconnected with the Tuesday incident around the same area, where a four floor building collapsed, killing over 10 pupils and leaving scores injured.

LABSCA sources said the property owner had been served several notices dating back to 2013 before the demolition.

Meanwhile over 180 defective houses on the Lagos Island have so far been identified for demolition LABSCA

The buildings, it was learnt, are not only defective but failed structural and physical integrity tests.

TNG can authoritatively report that twenty of the defective buildings will be pulled down on Friday (today) by LABSCA caterpillars already mobilised to sites.
