A top ranking member of the House of Representatives on Tuesday suggested that all lawmakers must undergo a compulsory test on Covid-19 before the National Assembly is shutdown.
The lawmaker, who spoke under the condition of anonymity with TheNewsGuru.com (TNG), also revealed that 15 members of the 360 House membership just arrived from foreign trips.
He said, “15 members just arrived from different parts of the globe and even mingled with some of us at plenary and committee legislative business sessions.
“So if we must shut down this complex then to further save the situation let us all sit in our various offices and undergo the test. So many of our members who just arrived mingled with us and some even shook hands with presiding officers at the aisle”.
Recall that as at Monday, some committees could not hold scheduled investigative hearings over fear of Covid-19.
The committee on Insurance and Actuarial Services had to indefinitely postpone a scheduled hearing on alleged unpaid claim of N163m to Scratch ‘n’ Pay Ltd.
