Following a report published by TheNewsGuru (TNG) on the hardship encountered by Delta State lawmakers and other Nigerians who were stranded in United Kingdom after being denied boarding rights over the cumbersome requirement for a £76 payment of return Covid-19 Test, the Nigerian government has waded in to ensure permits for passengers travelling into the country.

The granting of the temporary permit is due to the current difficulties being experienced by travellers to Nigeria in trying to fill their health and travel history into the Nigeria International Travel Portal (NITP).

TNG gathered that some Delta lawmakers, former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam was among eigthy Nigerians who were merited the government’s intervention to board the flight to their destination airport in Nigeria.

According to a source who spoke to TNG on the development the stranded passengers were instructed to fill a form and told to make payment for the repeated day-7 Covid-19 test at their destination airport in Nigeria.

However, it was learnt that most of the travellers upon arrival to Nigeria had to bribe their way through and as such their travel history and health declaration status are uncertified as their were no strict compliance with the earlier stated conditions.
