No fewer than four persons were electrocuted after an electric cable fell on worshippers in Lagos Church.

The tragedy struck at El-Adonai Evangelical Church in Abule-Egba area of Lagos State as an electric cable fell on worshippers during service on Sunday.

It was gathered that two adults and two teenagers were electrocuted in the incident.

Eyewitnesses, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed that the worshippers were while trying to fix the Church’s flag while making way for some officials when they got electrocuted.

The flag’s pole was said to have touched the electrical cable which triggered the shock.

However, the identities of the victims were yet to be verified.

It was further gathered that the operatives of the Lagos State Fire Service were called in to prevent further damage to lives and properties while the officials of the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) were said to have been contacted.

The incident was confirmed by the Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs. Adeseye Margaret, noting that some of the victims were unconscious as of the time of filing this report.

“The Ikeja Electric Distribution Company has been informed and consequently de-energize power distribution to the environment while rescue operations continue amid youth restiveness and tense area,” Adeseye said.
