.says Gbajabiamila emerged on a rainbow coalition of Reps
SPOKESPERSON of the House of Representatives, Hon Khadijat Ibrahim has said the ninth House will be a one United family.
Ibrahim made this revelation in a chat with journalists at the weekend describing Femi Gbajabiamila’s emergence as a rainbow coalition of all Representatives.
She said” the era of delayed budget is over as we will ensure budgets are passed in record time and that will not connote that we are a mere rubber stamp.
“It’s going to be a reformist House as the speaker had regularly emphasised that reforms that will impact on all members will form the bulk of his legislative agenda.
“We’ll establish a rapport between us and all arms of government because our country is too big with a diverse population so we are going to ensure our country moves ahead rather than slowing it down.
“The emergence of this leadership is that of brotherhood that cuts across party lines as you saw during the election, our speaker was nominated by a PDP member so our members cannot be bi-partisan in this new dispensation.
On the threat of some lawmakers to challenge Gbajabiamila’s emergence, she said”we have been meeting with them and very soon we shall amicably resolve all the differences.
‘And don’t forget, the speaker has said he would fulfill all his campaign promises to lawmakers.
“If not for the fact that the governors of Zamfara and Borno states were unavoidably absent, the speaker would have started his constituency engagements as he earlier
promised
Hon Bamidele Salaam, a member of the adhoc committee on Media and Publicity, also spoke in the same vein saying,” the speaker declared that it’s not going to be business as usual what he meant was that things will be transparently done this time around.
“He susequently ruled out the possibility of a Victory party which clearly indicate that there was no victor, no vanquish in the election he won.
“This is a signal that he is not going to be a speaker to a few but a speaker to all members of the House.
“In his inaugural speech, he equally declared that he was going to shake the table a little bit, what he meant was doing things the right way and applying the right approach and getting the required results at the end of the day.
