There was pandemonium on Tuesday afternoon as a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon valued at N100m burst into flames on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway.
The accident happened around 1:25 pm towards the Oshodi-Oke axis of the road. The raging inferno left the vehicle completely burnt with only the metal frame left.
According to an official of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) who spoke anonymously with TheNewsGuru.com, the agency was alerted immediately the incident happened and it immediately rushed to the scene.
“Immediately we were alerted of the accident, we deployed all our resources here. We were able to put off the fire so that it doesn’t affect other vehicles on the busy road. No life was lost or injured in the inferno. We cordoned off some sections of the road while the rescue operation was ongoing. As you can see, normalcy has since returned to the road,” he said.
The cause of the fire could not, however, be established as at the time of filing in this report.
TheNewsGuru.com reports that officials of LASEMA and the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, have since removed the wreckage of the vehicle.
