The Nigeria Police yesterday paraded a vicious and notorious middle aged man for allegedly gun selling, kidnapping and armed robbery in and around communities of Sokoto and Zamfara State.
Parading the suspect identified as Sani Rabiu before newsmen at the Force Headquarters Abuja the Force Public Relations Officer Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood said that the suspect was arrested on 21st November 2018 by men of the IGP’s X-Squad and Special Intervention team on routine market patrol and surveillance in two states.
He said that the Inspector-General of Police IGP Ibrahim Idris concerned with the spate of violent crimes particularly armed robbery, kidnapping and cattle rustling on innocent citizens immediately directed the combined team to move in and arrest the main suspect of these crimes in Sokoto and Zamfara State.
According to the Police Spokesman, the suspect was arrested by the combined team in a forest with a bag containing four (4) AK 47 rifles, and four (four) empty magazines with a motorcycle with registration no ..
He said that the Police operatives went after the suspect and arrested him after exchange of fire and recovered the weapons from him.
The suspect he said had made useful statements to aid Police investigation while two other suspects Ibro Danjuma and one Aliyu (other names unknown) is still at large and are being are still being trailed by the Police team.
The Police image maker added that the operation is still ongoing and more efforts are still being intensifies to arrest the other bandits terrorizing the people of Sokoto and Zamfara States.
Meanwhile the Zamfara State Police Command was said to have arrested 65 bandits and also foiled an attack on Safe Local Council area of the state by unidentified hoodlums.
The bandits allegedly were involved in cattled rustling, kidnappings and armed robberies in many local government areas of Sokoto and Zamfara States.
Stolen items said to have been recovered from the bandits include 226 cattle’s, 109 sheep and other household items. These stolen items have been returned to the original owners.
The Police spokesman added that as efforts are being made to prosecute the suspects in the law courts upon completion of investigation..
