Lekki Conservation Centre

Lekki Conservation Centre (LCC) is a 78-hectare Natural Resource Conservation in Lekki, Lagos State. The Nigerian National Museum is a national museum of Nigeria, located in the city of Lagos. Victoria Island, Lagos

Kajuru Castle

Agodi Gardens

Agodi Gardens is a tourist attraction in the city of Ibadan. Also called Agodi Botanical Gardens, Agodi Gardens, Ibadan, the site is a serene environment on 150 acres of land. It is usually patronised by families during festive periods and weekends.

Lagos Island

Okomu National Park

The Okomu National Park, formerly the Okomu Wildlife Sanctuary, is a forest block within the 1,082 km² Okomu Forest Reserve in the Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State in Nigeria. The park is about 60 km north west of Benin City. The park holds a small fragment of the rich forest that once covered the region, and is the last habitat for many endangered species. It continues to shrink as villages encroach on it, and is now less than one third of its original size.

Tinapa Resort

Cathedral Church of Christ, Lagos

The Cathedral Church of Christ, Lagos is an Anglican cathedral located on Lagos Island, Lagos State. It is an architectural masterpiece that embodies history and religion altogether. It is the oldest Anglican cathedral in the Church of Nigeria. The foundation stone was laid on 21 April 1925 by the Prince of Wales, who later became King Edward VIII). It was completed in 1946.

Millennium Park

The Millennium Park is the largest public park of Abuja, the capital of Nigeria and is located in the Maitama district of the city. The Millennium Park was inaugurated by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom on 4 December 2003.

Ibeno Beach

Oguta Lake

Oguta Lake is a lean ‘finger lake’ formed by the damming of the lower Njaba River with alluvium. It is the largest natural lake in Imo State, Southeastern Nigeria; within the equatorial rainforest region of the Niger Delta.

Agbokim Waterfalls

Agbokim waterfalls are situated in the Etung local government area of Cross River State in south-eastern Nigeria, very close to its border with Cameroon. The waterfalls are about 15 km from Ikom and 320 km from Calabar. Its a tourist attraction of choice.

Afi Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary

Afi Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the highlands of Cross River state. It is home to chimpanzees, drill monkeys, gorillas and several other endangered primates. Afi Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary is also a designated Important Bird Area.

Kamuku National Park

The Kamuku National Park іs one of Nigeria’s national parks located іn Kaduna State. The park is of a typical Sudanian Savanna ecology that is home to a variety of wildlife and fauna. It was built to preserve rare plant species.

Jhalobia Recreation Park and Gardens

Jhalobia Recreation Park and Garden is one of the premier recreation parks and gardens in Nigeria. It is located on Murtala Muhammed Airport Road, Lagos. It is marked by a stylish use of tropical plants and architecture.

Third Mainland Bridge

Third Mainland Bridge is the longest of three bridges connecting Lagos Island to the mainland, the other are the Eko and Carter bridges. It was the longest bridge in Africa until 1996 when the 6th October Bridge located in Cairo was completed.

Ogbunike Caves

The Ogbunike Caves are located in Ogbunike, Anambra State, southeastern Nigeria. Located in a valley blanketed by tropical rain forest, the collection of caves has been in use over centuries by local people for whom it has particular spiritual significance. This spiritual significance is still apparent, as the “Ime Ogba” celebration is undertaken every year to commemorate the discovery of the caves.

The Bade-Nguru Wetlands and Bulatura sectors are in Yobe State in the Sahel ecological zone. The park contains some rare desert wildlife like giraffe, ostrich, red fronted gazelle, jackals, mongoose, giant tortoise, panta monkeys, porcupine, ratel, spotted hyena, common duiker, warthog, dorcas gazelle, sitatunga, varieties of waders, glossy ibis, pelicans, secretary bird, knob billed goose, pintail, bustards etc.

Jos Wildlife Park

Canaanland is located in Lagos State. The headquarters of Faith Tabernacle, an evangelical megachurch was built in Canaanland between 1998 and 1999, taking twelve months to complete. In 1999, the BBC reported that Faith Tabernacle was the largest church in the world with respect to how many worshipers it can seat. It has a seating capacity of just over fifty thousand people.

Necom House

NECOM House is a skyscraper located in Lagos. This impressive structure has graced Lagos skyline since 1979, formerly housing the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited. The 32-story building is currently the tallest building in West Africa and is made out of concrete. The communications spire at the top of the tower serves as a lighthouse beacon for Lagos Harbor.

Tafawa Balewa Square

Tafawa Balewa Square, is a 14.5 hectare ceremonial ground located in Lagos Island, Lagos State. Built in 1972, it is reputable as the site of the Independence day celebration of Nigeria from colonial rule, which took place on October 1st, 1960 where the then Prime Minister, Tafawa Balewa, delivered his speech. It also serves as a monument of remembrance to victims of World War I and II and also the Nigerian Civil war.

Iddo Island

Iddo Island is a district in Lagos Mainland LGA of Lagos. Opposite Lagos Island, Iddo used to be an island, but due to landfill, is now part of the rest of Lagos Mainland. Iddo Island is connected to Lagos Island by the Eko Bridge and the Carter Bridge.

Awhum Waterfall

Shere Hills

The Shere Hills are a range of undulating hills and rock formations on the Jos Plateau, situated about 10 km east of the Jos metropolis, the capital of Plateau State in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria. The hills make up the highest point of the Jos Plateau and form the third highest point in Nigeria.

Bower’s Tower

Bower’s Tower can be seen at the top of Oke-Are in Ibadan. It is an historic monument put up to honour Captain Robert Lister Bower in 1936 – he was the first British Resident in Ibadan, and appointed by the British government to administer the ancient city, which he did between 1893 and 1897. The tower is 60 feet high and 11 feet square with two entrances and a spiral staircase that leads to the top of the tower. From the summit of the tower, you can see Ibadan roundabout sprawling before you and appreciate the pre-historicity of the town. The Bower Tower is someplace to check out if you happen to be in Ibadan.

Redemption Camp

Redemption Camp, located along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, is the national camp of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG), a mega pentecostal church. One of the well-known programs of the church is the Holy Ghost Service, an all night miracle service that holds on the first Friday of every month at the Redemption Camp. The average headcount of those who attend the Service is about 500,000.

Lagos Central Mosque

Lagos Central Mosque is an important jum’at mosque in Lagos Island and home of the Chief Imam of Lagos. It is located along the busy Nnamdi Azikiwe Street. The current Mosque was opened for use in May 1988, displacing an earlier mosque that was built between 1908 and 1913.

Lagos Lagoon

Lagos Lagoon is a shallow expanse of water with restricted circulation in a micro-tidal environment. The lagoon sharing its name with the city of Lagos. The name is Portuguese, and means ‘lakes’ in the Portuguese language so ‘Lagos Lagoon’ is an example of a tautological place name.

Wase Rock

Wase Rock is a massive dome shaped rocky inselberg found near Wase town in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State in central Nigeria. Sungbo’s Eredo

Sungbo’s Eredo is a tourist attraction located in Ogun State. Sungbo’s Eredo is a 160 km long barricade of defensive walls and ditches. The monument encompasses an area around 25 miles from south to north and 22 miles from west to east. Its earthen bank is 70 feet high from the bottom of a wide ditch, which has a reddish, vertical wall gleaming with patches of moss and covers the same area stated above from south to north. These turns the ditch into a sort of green tunnel. The total length of the rampart is a little bit higher than 160 kilometres (99 mi). The works are performed in laterite, a common African soil made up of clay and iron oxides. This monument is on Nigeria’s tentative list of potential UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Port Harcourt Zoo

Port Harcourt Zoo is a state owned zoological park in Port Harcourt city of Rivers State. The zoo was established in 1974 by military governor Alfred Diete-Spiff and was officially opened to the public on 1 October 1975.

Johnson Jakande Tinubu Park

Johnson Jakande Tinubu Park is a place of attraction located just opposite the State Assembly complex, Alausa Lagos State. The park was officially opened to the public on 13th December 2017, by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. There is a massive statue of eyo masquerade, a cultural identity of Lagos, with a water fountain surrounding the statue with a wooden bridge to cross through to the opposite ends of the statue. There is a cage that houses an assortment of exotic birds, and more.

Kurmi Market

Kurmi Market is a large market in the city of Kano, Kano State. With thousands of stalls in a 16-hectare area, Kurmi Market is one of the largest markets in Africa and is the city’s main attraction. Founded by Muhammad Rumfa, a King of Kano, in the 15th century, it is still in use in the 21st century.

Calabar River

The Calabar River is a river in Cross River State. It flows from the north past the city of Calabar, joining the larger Cross River about 8 kilometres to the south. The river at Calabar forms a natural harbor deep enough for vessels with a draft of 6 metres.

Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre

Shehu Musa Yar`Adua Centre is located at One Memorial Drive, Central Business District, Abuja. The centre is dedicated to furthering the ideals for which Shehu Yar’ Adua lived and died. It is a beautifully constructed edifice which encompasses an Exhibition Hall, Research Library, Conference Facilities including the Atiku Abubakar Auditorium capable of seating 450 people, meeting rooms, and a garden pavilion, all fronted by the symbolic Unfinished Bridge.

Usuma Lower Dam

Usuma Lower Dam is a non flowing facility which supplies water for treatment and distribution for Abuja municipality. Close to the Lake is River Usuma, the second largest in the FCT after River Gurara, a perennial stream with a relatively large network of head waters. The dam is located in Ushafa village between a few hills. It is being operated by the FCT. Permission is required to gain access to the area and it’s being guarded by uniformed security. Control channels and distribution patterns are well constructed to regulate the level and flow of water during the rainy and dry seasons. Swimming is highly prohibited within the dam. However, it is a beautiful place with one of the most peaceful surroundings where one can walk, sit, bbq and rest.

DanMasanin Kano Palace

DanMasanin Kano Palace is a tourist attraction in Kano State. Yusuf Maitama Sule was a Nigerian politician, diplomat, and statesman who held the Danmasanin Kano chieftaincy title. The palace harbours rich cultural and national heritage.

Ikoyi Cemetery

Ikoyi Cemetery is one of many landmarks located in Ikoyi, part of the Eti Osa local government area of Lagos State. With several years of history, the Ikoyi Cemetery is both a local landmark and a final resting place. Many prominent Nigerians such as Herbert Macaulay are interred at Ikoyi Cemetery.

Ibom Plaza

Ibom Plaza is a state park in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. It is a tourist paradise. Sitting in the center of the beautiful and culturally rich Uyo city, Ibom Plaza was designed by the then Governor of Akwa Ibom and features a sitting arena modeled in line with the gothic Greco-Roman arena with a giant elevated screen for football and sports enthusiasts beamed through satellite. Ibom Plaza accommodates shopping Malls, a medical centre, bustling business centres, parking lots, game centres, art shops and eating centres for families and friends to spend their leisure.

Fela’s Shrine Ikeja

Fela’s Shrine known as the New Afrika Shrine is an open air entertainment centre located in Ikeja, Lagos State. It serves as the host location of the annual Felabration music festival. It is the replacement of the old Afrika Shrine created in 1970 by Fela Kuti until it was burnt down in 1977. The New Afrika Shrine showcases photo galleries of Fela and music performances by Femi Kuti and Seun Kuti thus making it a tourist attraction. On July 3rd, 2018, French President Emmanuel Macron visited the Shrine and pre-launched the Season of African Cultures 2020 in France. Macron said he had visited the Shrine as a student in 2002.

Qua Iboe River

Qua Iboe River is located in Akwa Ibom State. The river that rises near Umuahia in Abia State, and flows in a southeastern direction through Akwa Ibom to the Atlantic Ocean. The river feeds a zone of mangrove swamps linked by creeks and lagoons that is separated from the sea by a low and narrow ridge of sand. Ibeno, on the eastern side of the river, about 3 kilometres from the river mouth, is one of the largest fishing settlements on the Nigerian coast. There are beautiful sights to behold there.

Thought Pyramid Art Centre

Thought Pyramid Art Centre is an independent, non-profit, modern and contemporary art space located in Abuja and Lagos. The mission of The Thought Pyramid Art Centre is to collect, conserve, and study modern and contemporary art of Africa, and the African Diaspora. As your car enters the main gate, you get a wonderful glimpse of some metallic pieces of art. There is a good collection of African paintings inside. There is also an option to purchase souvenirs.

Owu Waterfalls

Owu Waterfalls is a waterfall located in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State. It is 120m above the water level and cascades 330 feet down an escarpment, with rocky out crops to a pool of ice-cold water below. Owu waterfall is the highest and most spectacular natural waterfall in West Africa. With its ambience, cool environs and lush tributes to nature, everyone is invited for a dip.

Other places to visit are Cairo Crescent Abuja, Lagos Harbour, Port Harcourt Pleasure Park, Ataoja of Osogbo Palace and Lake Chad.

Save this list somewhere because obviously you won’t be able to visit all the places in 2020, and you could need it going beyond 2020.
