Before Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde tested positive for coronavirus on Monday, he has had some major activities and engagements and it is only important that TheNewsGuru (TNG) profile such events to highlight risk areas to aid the job of relevant authorities conducting a contact tracing to best curb the spread of the deadly virus.
Announcing his result on Twitter today, the 52-year-old governor said: “I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate.”
Already, Ibadan residents are in palpable fear of a likely community spread especially as the virus has already ravaged top management staffers at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Most significant among the Makinde’s event is on March 18: South-West unification rally, held at the historic Mapo Hall, Ibadan which stoked several criticisms of the governor in the social media space.
Ironically, Makinde, quoting Tinubu, emphasised at the occasion that the ruling party, APC is infected with Coronavirus disease.
Many Nigerians at the time condemned both PDP and Makinde for allowing such humongous event to hold in Oyo State at a time Nigerian government is conscientising the public on dangers of public gathering in respect of the Covid-19 cases that were recorded in the country – Makinde later apologsed to the public on the said issue.
