Nigerians are no longer thinking of the dreaded covid-19 pandemic as another virus associated with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC that is fast spreading across Nigeria has mounted the political environment .
The virus that raided Edo State has landed in Ondo as the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, two commissioners and five Special Advisers dump the party for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
This came barely 12 hours after Rotimi Akeredolu’s deputy, Hon Agboola Ajayi dumped the party declaring that he won’t quit from government house.
The question is where did APC got this deadly virus from as there were no early signs of the infectious disease in the party in the states.
The APC got it all wrong when it abandoned credible politicians and installed rugged and fire spitting baggage carrying party stalwarts at the centre.
The party threw aside Chief Odigie-Oyegun and installed a former Governor , Adams Oshiomhole largely believed to be strong before the 2019 general elections.
Oshiomhole within a short period started his political magical spells and eventually the party won at the centre.
After this victory, the seed of discord was firmly rooted into the party and it has germinated into a full blown virus gradually spreading from the South South to the South West geo-political zones of the country.
The party’s change mantra is now wearing the face of a virus that may eventually disintegrate the party before 2023.
Oshiomhole ensured his achievements after losing five states after the 2019 polls got into his head and decided to bare his fangs on his own state.
His abracadabra politics disqualified his political god son Godwin Obaseki from partaking in the party’s guber primary slated for today.
This led to a galore of defections as the state cabinet was moved into PDP turning APC into an opposition state overnight.
Before now, during the campaigns Oshiomhole had heavily de-marketed his new found godson Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as he used all manners of unprintable graffiti to describe him.
Barely four years after, this new godson of his is now the one he has anointed to take over from Obaseki.
Since he made that declaration, Edolites have continued to laugh at their former Governor reminding him of all the beautiful words he used to de-market him.
Edo state has been consumed by his virus and same virus has infected Ondo state and it may continue to spread if not quickly nipped.
At the national level of the party, the virus has taken over and if the head is already rotten what should Nigerians expect from the tail?
APC political virus is fast biting hard and its leadership is in search of a surgeon to help cure the ailing party.
