Fousseni Diabate, making his Leicester debut, shot the Foxes ahead in the ninth minute. Iheanacho doubled Leicester City’s lead in the 12th minute with a clever shot from distance
The Super Eagles star scored his second goal of the encounter in the 29th minute, finishing off a superb cross to hand his side a 3-0 lead into the break.
Hosts Peterborough got a goal back through Andrew Hughes to make it 3-1 in the 58th minute.
Six minutes later Claude Puel reacted to the goal by bringing on Wilfred Ndidi for Harvey Barnes in the 64th minute to shore up the Foxes midfield.
Iheanacho was also replaced with 10 minutes left to play by Ben Chilwell.
