The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has charged International Oil Companies (IOCs) to patronize MG VowGas Limited.
The Executive Secretary of the NCDMB, Simbi Kesiye Wabote, made the charge to the IOCs on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State at the unveiling of MG VowGas Limited newly built ultra-modern, fully computerized industrial complex.
After a facility tour of the industrial complex, Wabote expressed satisfaction over the quality and number of machines, workshops and equipment at the complex.
He said the firm deserves patronage by the IOCs since it is having all it takes for fabrication and ship engineering services.
Commending the industrial outlay of the fabrication yard, Wabote pointed out that the magnificent office complex, trained workforce, and the high calibre equipment and facilities were enough to “take any FPSO, as far as I am concerned, and you also have a water depth of 7 metres which is a very good advantage”.
He promised to ensure that the work scope the yard can handle in the oil and gas industry was given to the company and to ensure that it participates in competitive and transparent bidding process.
He pointed out that the VowGas fabrication yard must have been built out of the passion to grow the industry, given that the company has not had any major contract in the past.
“I am blown away by what I have seen here. I am excellently impressed by the facilities tucked away in this part of Port Harcourt. Most of the global fabrication yards started like this and we have to assist this great initiative to grow,” Wabote said.
Responding, VowGas Group Managing Director, Godwin Izomor, who conducted the NCDMB team round the yard, noted that “with the world-class facilities and personnel, there was no excuse for the IOCs to take their fabrication jobs to foreign countries thus promoting capital flight”.
We have capacity to handle construction and fabrication projects in Nigeria, he said.
Noting that MG VowGas is determined to match global standard in the oil and gas industry, he appealed to the Federal Government to improve electricity supply and security in the country, stressing that it costs huge sum to provide electricity and security, which increases the cost of doing business.
