Your next boss could be a robot as companies are increasingly adopting software that uses algorithms to disseminate tasks to workers, side-lining human managers, reports The Wall Street Journal.
Some of the systems include algorithms to schedule employees’ vacations, determine who would work best together, move workers to new projects, and even dole out day-to-day tasks.
The report claims that workforce management software sales have risen 23% over the last two years and is now worth $11.5 billion, with companies like GE and Shell on board.
This is expected to grow another 25% in the next two years.
“These management tools are part of a broader shift to apply artificial intelligence to hiring and other human-resources work,” writes The Wall Street Journal.
