A Nigerian activist has decried the degradation of educational standards, especially that which has to do with examination malpractices, in the country as major examinations are being written across the country.
“Education is the science that improves the quality of the mind and the mental compatibilities of any individual in a society.
“It is an expressive measurement of human, material and spiritual etc élan and a continuation of wisdom by systematic approach.
“It involves a grandiosity of formal and informal harnessing of cerebral prowess,” defined Chief Bobson Gbinije in a brief chat with TheNewsGuru today.
Education in Nigeria has been marred by examination malpractices with undone graduates churned out of our university system year in year out, according to the Public Affairs Commentator (PAC).
“Examination malpractice has saturated our world with certificated illiterates and educated zombies, precipitating the unwholesome prevalence of mediocrity,” Chief Gbinije lamented.
Presently, secondary school students are sitting for the WASSCE examination and in no time, NECO and UTME will follow.
But the spate of malpractices recorded with examinations in the past still haunts present examinations, Chief Gbinije asserted.
“Where Do We Go From Here?” he queried.
The Chief urged students shun examination malpractices. He said with timely preparation, examinations are not difficult to surpass.
He further stated that it is one thing to be educated, and another to apply what is learned. He said the difference between educated literates and educated illiterates is in the application of knowledge acquired.
He advised students maximize the gains of education for good in other to reduce the level of mediocrity and gullibility in Nigeria.
