Delta state Director of Information, Mr. Paul Osahor has said the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board is waiting for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s approval to enable it open its website for 2016/2017 bursary registration exercise.
Mr. Osahor made this known in Asaba recently while alerting students and parents of a fake website being operated by some persons it has tagged “dubious”.
TheNewsGuru reports the website directs students of Delta State origin in tertiary institutions to register for the Students Special Assistance Scheme (SSAS) with the sum of N1,000 as processing fee payable online.
Mr. Osahor explained that the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board is the only Board permitted by law to handle any issue relating to SSAS in the state through its official website.
According to Osahor, the board is currently paying qualified students the 2015/2016 bursary and is waiting for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s approval to enable it open the website for the 2016/2017 registration exercise.
Osahor said the url to the board’s website is http://dsbsb.dl.gov.ng and not http://dsbsb.dl-gov.ng
He gave the difference in the two websites, noting that the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board website has a dot after ‘dl’ (dl.gov.ng), while the fake one has a dash after ‘dl’ (dl-gov.ng).
The director advised parents, guardians and students of Delta State origin to take note of the board’s website and be guided so that they don’t fall into wrong hands of dubious persons who would want to cash in on their ignorance to dupe them of their hard earned money.
