Earlier this month, Iledare Oluwajuwonlo a.k.a Jaywon released a song titled ‘Aje’. The song is a prayerful tune which chronicles the struggles and travails people experience on their journey to the top.
On what inspired the song, the ‘Saro’ crooner noted that the abysmal rate of suicide in Nigeria inspired the highly melodious song .
He made this known in a chat with TheNewsGuru:” What inspired the song is the fact that people give up easily these days. Some see suicide as a way of escape. You can tell from the number of suicide cases we have recorded in the last 6 months. What has happened to the tough Nigerian spirit that doesn’t make us give up no matter what?We need to pay more attention to these suicide cases and our loved ones. People can connect to ‘Aje’ because it is sincere”, he said.
Amazingly, Jaywon featured his former record label boss, Kenny Ogungbe in the music video. This move has sparked various reactions from his fans.
“I needed an experienced and mature voice for that part in the video and I couldn’t think of any other person than Kenny Ogungbe. You can say it’s intentional”.
