American gospel singer, Troy Sneed has passed away at 52, after suffering complications from COVID-19,.
Bill Carpenter, Sneed’s publicist, who broke the sad news, revealed that the singer died in the early hours of Monday at a hospital in Jacksonville, Florida.
Sneed began his early music days with the Georgia mass choir where he featured prominently in their albums and shows.
In 1999, he started out his career officially with the release of ‘Call Jesus’, his debut album. Sneed subsequently dropped ‘Bless That Wonderful Name’ in 2001.
He, however, rose to spotlight with the release of ‘A State of Worship,’ his third album, which was among Billboard magazine’s gospel albums’ top-chart.
The anointed gospel singer has since continued to pull the strings with series of other beautiful projects including ‘Work It Out’ and ‘My Heart Says Yes.’
His death has also continued to gather tributes from several quarters with many taking to social media to reflect on their experiences with him during his lifetime.
Expressing shock over his demise, KD Bowe, an American radio broadcaster, took to his Instagram page to ask fans to pray for the deceased’s family, describing his demise as shocking.
“I don’t know how to make sense of this. I’m not okay, man. COVID-19 sucks. Will you all please pray for Emily & the kids? Please? RIH, King. Or walk around it … all day. #RIPTroySneed,” he wrote.
Sneed is survived by Emily Frances, whom he married on July 2, 1993, and his four children — Troy Jr., Evany, Trey and Tyler.
