Popular music producer, Solomon Oyeniyi a.k.a Ksolo has averred that quality of music content is losing value in this generation.
Speaking in a chat with TheNewsGuru, he said: ”I really don’t know what to say about that. What works for this phase, might not work for the next phase. What I feel is that it is the trend. I just allow them to enjoy it. I don’t criticize them, or tell them that it is wrong because a lot of us that are the grown ones are also doing it. A Tiwa Savage that was doing RnB and pop music, later switched at some point. Thank God she is back to her foundation and what people love her for.For me I don’t want to say anything about the content of their lyrics, because it is just their trend and with time, it will fade away. Infact it has faded away. Afrobeats is there, reggae is there, highlife is there, pop is there. These style of music they are doing now and giving names, I don’t know how long it is going to last. I know it won’t last”.
Now to the content of music we have in this generation, truth is it has lost its value. There is really not much to say. A good sound is a good sound. Drop it in 1990, it will trend today. Victor Uwaifo’s song ‘Mammy water” is still being remixed over and over because it is a good content. Anyone of them that does the right content, will have that longevity. If they don’t create the right musical content, they will fade away”.
