Beautiful actress and filmmaker, Peju Johnson is one role interpreter who has gotten attention in the Yoruba arm of Nollywood in a short while.
The talented role interpreter has averred that more Nollywood stars are finding solace in side-businesses because the industry doesn’t pay them what they deserve.
Speaking in a chat with TheNewsGuru, she said: “I think more Nollywood stars and entertainers generally are creating their own side hustles or businesses because acting isn’t really paying well.
Actors don’t usually get the fees they deserve. The sad part of it is that some don’t even get paid at all. There are many people who just want to use one in Nollywood. They will call you for job and after working they won’t pay you. That is really common in the Yoruba sector of Nollywood. Being a broke celebrity isn’t a good thing. So that’s why many of us have side businesses”.
Asked if she would love to be part of popular Nigerian reality TV show, BBNaija, she said: “Yes, I would love to go for BBNaija. Lots of people have been telling me this. In fact they tell me every year to register and all. But I still hope I am going to be part of it someday”.
