Determined to extend love and support to survivors of sexual assault and rape, popular Lifestyle Coach, Kwavi Agbeyegbe, has created a campaign, #MiraclesForMirabel aimed at providing a platform where victims of sexual assault can speak up and also create conversations on what can be done to reduce rape in our communities and society at large.
The Atlanta-Georgia-based mother of two is set to hold the second edition of her ‘Kwavithon 5K race’ event in Lagos on Saturday, November 11, 2017.
The race will be led by Honorable Desmond Elliot, a lawmaker and filmmaker
Shedding more light on the ‘Kwavithon 5K race,’ Ms Kwavi emphasized on the urgent need to create more awareness for the sake of the children.
She said, “The race which would start at Seven8, Playground, 13B Adebayo Doherty, Lekki Phase one, is targeted at creating awareness, as awareness creates change. Once you tell one person, they will tell another, using social media, word of mouth and other methods. And before you know it, a movement has start. I believe every individual has interest in the dialogue of cases relating sexual assault and rape.
Speaking further about the position of Mirable Center in taking care of those who have unfortunately encountered a form of sexual abuse or the other, Kwavi noted that: “Mirabel Center provides holistic and high quality medical and psycho social services to survivors of sexual assault and rape. The majority of the people coming through the doors at the Center are younger than 14 years of age, while some are even less than a year old. They are young children whose lives have been changed in a drastic way by those that were meant to love and protect them”.
