When you meet Vivica Ijeoma Anuforo, you cannot but notice her beauty, zest for life and passion for her craft. The rising actress who has starred in movies like Turning Point, Broken Silence .The Bride is Mine, and others opens up about her journey into Nollywood, most challenging movie role, having a crush on RMD, among other issues in this interview with TheNewsGuru
How long have you been acting and how many movies do you have to your credit?
I have been acting for about 7 years now and I have featured in well over 20 Nollywood movies. I’m the first of 3 kids. I am from Owerri North, Imo State. I attended Jack n Jill Children’s School Ilasamaja, Corona Secondary School Agbara and University of Lagos Akoka
Can you name a few of them?
Broken Silence Directed by Desmond Elliot, 11am Directed by Alex Mouth for Africa Magic Original films, The Missing God directed by Joe Brown Ubaka, and others.
Becoming famous and staying relevant comes with its high and low moments but you have scaled through the hurdles, what would you say has worked for you till date?
Honestly I haven’t thought to use any strategies yet I just try to be my authentic self at all times .I try to be civil with everyone I meet and I try to improve on my craft that is what is most important to me .
What triggered your interest in acting?
I used to watch lots of action films when I was younger. Those days I used to invest my money in video clubs. Then my older cousins would always bring home one Nollywood movie or the other and we would all gather round in the sitting room to watch. I think somehow in the midst of all that my interest for acting grew in my subconscious
What has been your most challenging movie role?
I think my most challenging role would be the role I played in the movie 11am because it was the first time I had to cry in a movie. I thought I could just muffle cry sounds and cheat but the Director (Alex Mouth) was not having it! He made me shed very real and authentic tears the experience changed my life really.
How did the experience change your life?
It thought me to try and deal with certain emotions rather than lock them away because if you try to use those emotions as a trigger to draw tears, it will affect you because you haven’t really let go. When you act well it shows and when you try to cheat it really shows. Viewers might not know how to act but they can tell good acting from bad acting.
Some people are of the believe that acting or movie-making don’t pay the bills. What is your take on this?
Well the thing is in both Hollywood and Nollywood acting would usually not pay all the bills for an actor who hasn’t gotten that big break yet that. That is why we do other things on the side so one doesn’t get frustrated . But once you get big break, acting can surely pay the bills
You recently unveiled your side boob in a photo shoot, what made you do that?
The thing is sometimes I come off as laid back and quiet but I’m a Gemini and no Gemini is truly quiet .You know the sign is said to have two sides so let’s just say that’s my other side or alter ego I tend to bring that other side out in my photoshoots .But trust me my bark is louder than my bite
And you were not scared of the backlash it will trigger on social media?
Well like I always say, I’d rather be looked over than be over looked.
What part of your body gets you the most attention?
With the ladies I’d say my skin and with the guys think my boobs cos I hardly wear bras
Why don’t you like to wear bras?
Not that I don’t, I cherish the opportunity not to wear them. It tightens my boobs and they are tiny.
Have you ever contemplated doing breast enlargement?
Never! I love the side of my breast
Do you still have a crush on RMD?
Well, have you seen the man? He gets hotter every year! Yes I still do! But now I’m dwindling between him and Sam Dede
What will be your reaction if you star in the same movie with him?
I will prepare well for the role because I know he has a theatre background .If I don’t act well , he will see through it. So I would really want to impress him with my talent. It will be one thing I would have checked off my bucket list.
How about your emotion. Will you be able to control it?
I will surely. That is what makes me a professional he probably won’t even noticed I am melting inside
