Former Inspiration FM OAP, Wana Udobang a.k.a Wana Wana is a woman of many parts. The bubbly culture aficionado is a filmmaker, journalist and poet. Wana’s strength lies in putting the spotlight on sensitive societal issues through her diverse talents.
She recently launched her spoken word album, In Memory of Forgetting and has been garnering rave reviews for her brain child.
Though raspy and emotional, Wana’s voice is not just compelling, it sinks into the deep parts of your soul. On This is not a feminist poem Wana lays bare different layers of injustice women are subjected to by culture and the society. The emotion laden poem is one of the tracks on her spoken word album.
In her words: “This is Not a Feminist Poem is not a rant or a call to action, it is not a call for your attention. It is not a checklist of everything you already know . This is a poem about life, about rights for my sisters, who struggle and continue to fight”.
