O.J. Simpson has been granted parole, after nine years of being imprisoned for a Las Vegas robbery.
The outcome of the television star/former NFL player was on Thursday decided by a parole board made up of four Nevada commissioners.
During the bail hearing, the 70-year-old narrated the account of the robbery to the board, saying he regrets every moment of it.
Simpson stated that his actions weren’t intentional and that he “wish[es] this would have never happened”.
“I take full responsibility. I’ve done my time,” he told the board.
The thespian was detained in 2007 after he led a group of men into a hotel/casino to steal sports memorabilia at gunpoint.
He had said the memorabilia and other personal items belonged to him.
Simpson was imprisoned for armed robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and ten other charges.
The sentence carried a maximum of 33 years.
He was found guilty of the crime in 2008 – exactly 13 years after he was cleared for the 1995 killings of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.
Following the parole, Simpson is expected to be released in October.
