- Authenticity
The actress who also doubles as a real estate doesn’t pretend to be what she is not. Omotola is an entertainer who is vocal about her convictions and true to herself.
She once said in an interview: “I think the government needs to wake up. They go around the world and they brag about Nollywood. Why would you brag about something you’re not developing? It’s not as if they are not doing anything but it’s not enough. They need to understand that Nollywood is a force in itself, it needs a ministry of its own.For a long time, Nollywood was the only thing Nigerians in the diaspora had to brag about Nigeria. We also have a problem in this country, we won’t allow ourselves to be great because we know each other but we support white people if they try to do something. If people in the diaspora say anything bad about Nigeria, Nigerians there use Nollywood movies to show that there are mansions in Nigeria.”. That’s how authentic Omotola is.
- Reinvent your brand
In 2004, Omotola and the likes of Richard Mofe Damijo, Stella Damascus, Nkem Owoh, Pete Edochie, were banned for charging too much for movie appearances as a result of their popularity. Rather than coil into obscurity, Omotola found solace in her music talent. She released an album in 2005 titled ‘Gba’ produced by the late OJB Jezreel. The album featured Ruggedman, Pasto Goody Goody, Six O and others. Though music pundits are not convinced about her singing talent, but Omotola still reinvented herself during that turbulent period in her career.
- Be an aspirational brand
Truth be told every budding and rising actress aspires to be like Omotola. The Ondo born actress has managed to create magic out of balancing her work life and the home front. She is an aspirational brand, the actress every actress wants to be like.
Award winning actress and filmmaker , Omoni Oboli once said this about her: “She is the mother of four children and has managed to stay in shape, not only for the screen, but for her husband. She is truly an icon in the movie industry and in Nigeria as a whole. She has shown that with hard work, consistency, diligence, focus and a desire to achieve, there is nothing that can stop your rise to the top of your game”.
