For those who attended The Nollywood session at the Nigerian Entertainment Conference (NECLive) held on Wednesday, 28th of April, there was a general agreement that it was one of the most engaging sessions at the event.
The panelists for the session were Nollywood veteran, Patrick Doyle talented actresses, Toyin Abraham and Adesua Etomi . They discussed various issues plaguing the industry. The conversation became dramatic when the issue of joining associations came up.
Toyin felt being part of the guild was important, Adesua felt otherwise . This led to a back and forth verbal exchange between the duo. Doyle had to interrupt their argument by telling Adesua she wasn’t being fair to the system. In his words, Adesua who returned to Nigeria to pursue a career in acting from the UK should join the existing guilds.
According to him:”Now that you are in the system, join the guilds. The industry has helped you.A lot of the young Nigerians that come in from abroad brought in a lot of value to the movie making industry and that value is appreciated here.”
