This is definitely a gloomy period for friends and family of Ebenezer Ayeni, an Ibadan-based gospel music producer, who was preparing to get married next week. Ayeni died from gunshot injuries sustained during a robbery incident.
It was gathered that the 30-year-old was shot by armed robbers who stormed his residence on Thursday.
According to his friends’ statements, the victim was rushed to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, and J-Rapha, a private hospital, but was “refused treatment by the medical centres without a police report.”
Ayeni was said to have given up the ghost about a few hours later in the pool of his own blood. His body was also said to have been deposited in the morgue.
Anifowose Oluwasinaayomi, a friend of the deceased who took to his Facebook page to mourn his demise, said he was attacked by armed robbers who invaded his home.
The friend added that the music producer had planned to wed his lover next week.
“Ebenezer Ayeni was shot in his residence during the night and he was rushed to UCH but he wasn’t attended to because of Police report, and he was also rushed to J-rapha hospital in Ibadan and they also refused to attend to him because of police [report] and he gave up the ghost after struggling with life for more than 2hrs,” he wrote.
“We were planning for your wedding next week and not your burial.”
“Ebenezer Ayeni, Rest in Peace brother. Next week Saturday should have been your wedding but who are we to question God? You battled for your life for more than two hours, and UCH was asking for police report without attending to you,” Adegbite Adedamola, another friend, wrote.
