Gone are the days when Disc-Jockeys stayed behind the wheels to play songs. Those days DJs were to be heard not seen. They were comfortable with just reeling out songs as others dance on the dance-floor.
The story has changed today, DJs are eating in the big pies, headlining mega shows and commanding huge fees. Welcome to the world of influential Nigerian DJS.

- DJ Jimmy Jatt
Cool DJ Jimmy Jatt, as he is fondly called by fans is an inspiration to young entertainers in the country. Revered as the King of DJs in Nigeria, the showbiz don started the movement of DJs recording albums in Nigeria.
Armed with over 750,000 followers on Instagram and a cult following on Twitter, the acclaimed DJ has over the years worked with the likes of 2face, Modenine, Wizkid, Davido and lot’s more.
In his book titled Avante Garde, DJ Jimmy Jatt shares his passion for innovation.

- DJ Neptune
Imohiosen Patrick better known as DJ Neptune is a multiple award winning DJ from Nigeria.
DJ Neptune developed interest in becoming a Disc Jockey while He was in school and after watching several online DJ tutorials and practice; he became a Disc Jockey and started living his dreams.
In 2008, Nigerian rapper Naeto C signed DJ Neptune as his official Disc Jockey/ Hype man. Neptune has his own album with hit songs like 123 featuring MI, Naeto C and the late Da Grin, and also This Gbedu featuring Ice Prince, YQ and Shank. He has over 60,000 followers on Instagram.
- DJ Spinall
Fondly called The Cap, DJ Spinall is undoubtedly one of the most influential DJs in Nigeria at the moment. With over 900,000 followers on Instagram and an endorsement deal with Smirnoff, Spinall is living the good life.
DJ Spinall created a distinctive look by adding a style edge known as TheCAP to his outfit. This move is aimed at showcasing his style adventure and also celebrating the African Prints. Spinall has released over 40 Mixtapes, including, A Journey with the Legend Jay Z, The Trinity Mix, 30Minutes To Get Funky, Headliners Party Mix, TheCAP House Mix and recently Afro Melody mix and Best Of Both Worlds – A Blend Of Nigerian & South African music.
In 2015, Spinall released his debut album titled ‘My Story’ featuring some of Africa’s heavy weight including Mafikizolo, 2face Idibia, Olamide, MI, Wande Coal, Ice Prince, Tekno, Burna Boy, Yemi Alade and several others.
- DJ Xclusive
Rotimi Alakija a.k.a DJ Xclusive is one of the most sought after Djs in Nigeria. When you meet him at first, you will think he is a CEO or bank MD.
Xclusive is not your regular kind of disc jockey. He doesn’t braid his hair or rock dreadlocks. He is clean shaven and soft spoken. The former official DJ for Wizkid has hot singles like Pangolo featuring Timaya, Ibebe featuring Olamide, Gal bad featuring D’Prince and Wizkid and Oyoyo featuring Burna Boy.
The sought after DJ has over 1.2m followers on Instagram and also has a degree in Financial Computing. The video for his song, Ibebe has over a million views on YouTube.
5.DJ Cuppy
Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, famously known as DJ Cuppy, is a musician and entrepreneur with a rapidly increasing empire. Born in Lagos, Nigeria in 1992, Cuppy’s musical endeavors began at a young age. By the time she turned 18, whilst attaining a BSc Economics at Kings College London, she was already producing her own tracks and DJing around the world. Many reference her swift rise to the wealth of her billionaire dad, Femi Otedola.
Cuppy who has over 305,000 followers on Instagram is popular for her ability to seamlessly fuse commercial hits with innovative remixes, relating with any diverse crowd.
On what drives her Cuppy said: “We are setting the pace for young women who are trying to get out of a generational trend of just going to school, be good, get a job, get married and sit there looking pretty”.
