Myriad of Nigerians have reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s refusal to mention the attack on unarmed protesters at the Lekki toll gate.
Buhari’s address came 48 hours after soldiers invaded the Lekki toll gate where thousands of protesters had been demonstrating against police brutality for 13 days.
Nigerian singer, Simi took to her Twitter page to open about how she feel about the President’s speech.
In her words:” So that’s it then? My heart is so broken. I’m crying. It’s like he just zapped the small hope I was clinging to. Sigh.He didn’t even acknowledge them. Wow.This speech just destabilized me”.
Hours later, the ‘Jamb Question’ crooner urged Nigerians not to lose hope, adding that we cannot give up on Nigeria.
“We can’t lose hope. I felt so broken, but as with any fight, It’s okay to stop and breathe. I needed that and so I switched off my phone, gave my baby to my mum and went to record. Do whatever u need. WE CAN’T GIVE UP! We already knew it’s a long game. Keep ur head up! #EndSars”.
