Since the release of Toke Makinwa’s book, social media has been buzzing with a myriad of reactions trailing the book. Praise Fowowe, a renowned relationship expert and author x-rays the problem with Toke Makinwa and her ex-husband in a recent interview with Broadway Africa TV.
When asked about how her past might have affected the relationship, he says: ”I am looking at an eight years old whose parents died in her presence. The first question that came to me when I read the excerpts of the book was that: “Did she go for counseling or have a therapist?” There is still pain in there. How was this girl engineered? How did she grow up? A lot of people will not see it from that perspective. A lot of people will look at the sensational part of her story. For her to have taken a marital decision based on information she is giving, this shows that there was a loophole somewhere that wasn’t blocked. The guy in question, I don’t know him but how was he engineered? Because people don’t just go bad. Though it hasn’t been verbalized, but I can see a history of abuse and learned helplessness in his life. This means a situation whereby you love to do good, but you do bad. It looks like two broken people found themselves in a relationship. When someone says this guy made me bleach. Is he Jesus Christ? It means the person has not accepted you for who you are
He also affirms that Toke is still hurting as a result of her pains and past experiences.
Hear him:”I won’t blame Toke Makinwa because if you have been through what she has been through the pain in her life, when you see what looks like love that is not love, you cling unto it. When your self-esteem is not in existence and someone is your self-esteem, you will do a whole of things. Anyone who has been through the journey she has been through can take such decisions”
“The problem I have is this: In all these years, was this guy so bad to the extent that there was nothing good about him? That worries me. When a human being reveals somebody else bad spots without mentioning a good spot, I see that as someone that is hurting and hurting people fight dirty.”
