The name Esse Agesse ruled the airwaves with her unique vibrato voice in the early 1990s.When most of her contemporaries found solace in highlife and reggae music, Esse carved a niche for herself with her irresistible pulsating pop music.
The Delta State indigene who is now based in Ireland running her NGO Women of Love International returns with a new song and a new name after over 20 years of music hiatus. She changed her name from Esse Agesse to Lady Esse Agesse.
Her new single Oghene Migwo Doh is an upbeat groovy gospel highlife tune that speaks of the faithfulness and goodness of God. Lady Esse still retains her powerful symphonic voice in the tune.
According to her:” Oghene Migwo Doh is a song I did some time ago but never promoted and I am just doing that now. I have a few songs like that. It means ‘God thank you’. However, it literally means ‘God I am on my knees’. I have reached a place in my life where I realize that God is the reason I am alive and still have hope. On my own I probably would have given up, but God has kept me continually and I am grateful, hence the song.”
