Burna Boy, Grammy-winning singer has slammed the federal government over the report of the Lagos judicial panel on the Lekki tollgate shooting.
There had been contradictory reports on the activities of security operatives on that fateful day.
Lai Mohammed, minister for information, had claimed lives weren’t lost during the EndSARS protest at Lekki.
However the panel set up by the Lagos state government to probe the case recently listed 48 casualties of the protest.
It established, contrary to the federal government’s claims, that nine citizens died and four others went missing.
Reacting to the panel’s report via his Instagram story, Burna Boy wrote: “I just sleep, wake up see say government yansh open far and wide today. You cannot clean innocent blood with lie Mohammed.”
TheNewsGuru recalls that Desmond Elliot, the actor turned Lagos state lawmaker, had also said that he knew there was calamity and chaos on that night at the Lekki tollgate.
“I read it, and it was very heartbreaking. Heartwrenching. I knew there was a calamity, chaos. Except you are not Nigerian, or you are not human. You would feel for everybody,” Elliot had said.
“I have always said something. When MKO died and the government of the day denied and denied, it took this government to come and say you know what, we have wronged you; this is the truth. And they actually gave Democracy Day.
“We have always said the truth comes out. There is no how you would try to hide it, the truth would come out.”
