Prolific Nigerian goal poacher, Gift Orban who currently plies his trade for Belgium side, KAA Gent could be on his way to French Ligue 1 side Lille metropole FC.
Recall that Lille’s potent striker, Jonathan David is being priced away and Orban is being tipped to replace him if he leaves.
The potential agreement comes as Lille seek to bolster their attacking options following the anticipated departure of their star striker, who notched an impressive 24 goals during the 2022/23 Ligue 1 season, propelling them to a fifth-place finish.
With David expected to move out of France during this transfer window, Lille have reportedly identified Orban as their primary target to fill the void left by the Canadian dynamo.
According to Foot Mercato, the French side are edging closer to reaching an agreement with Orban’s representatives, as the negotiations with Gent are slated to commence once David’s departure is finalised.
If all goes well, Orban will make his second transfer of the year, having joined Gent from Stabaek in January.
The young Nigerian talent has been exceptional in front of goal, grabbing 20 goals in 22 appearances since his move to Genk last January.
