Two brothers, Olalekan Kaka and Ibrahim Kaka, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly threatening the lives of their late father’s tenants.
The siblings also allegedly damaged a vehicle belonging to their father’s lawyer, Mr Sola Dada.
The two brothers, who reside at Egbeda area of Lagos, are being tried for breach of peace, conspiracy, damage and threatening violence.
According to the prosecutor, Sgt. Godwin Awase, the accused committed the offences on Jan. 3, at Gowon Estate, Egbeda in Lagos.
He said that the accused conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace, by chasing their late father’s tenants with cutlasses and also damaged the vehicle of a lawyer, Sola Dada.
“The accused threatened to damage the residential house, property of their father, late Kabiru Kaka, being managed by the lawyer, Dada.
“The complainant, Dada, was called by tenants of late Kaka that the accused came with cutlasses to chase them out.
“When Dada rushed to the scene, the accused ran after him with cutlasses to machete him.
“The complainant quickly ran back into his car, in order to escape, but the accused caught up with him as he was about to zoom off, and damaged his car with their cutlasses.
“The complainant reported the case at the station and the accused were arrested,” he said.
Awase said that the offences contravened Sections 56, 168, 350 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015(Revised).
The Magistrate, Mr J.A. Adigun, said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and should show evidences of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
He adjourned the case until Feb. 23 for mention.
