Two security men posted to a hotel were on Friday docked in Lagos State for allegedly stealing three generator batteries, an infinix max phone VI and an oraimo airpod from a guest.
The police charged Abiodun Adeoye, 32 and Chimadu Kalu, 36 with conspiracy and theft before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp Sunday Bassey told the court that the defendants, staff of a hotel located at Ifako Gbagada, Lagos State, committed the offence on Sept. 5.
Bassey said that the Zonal manager of Halogen Security company, Mr Abiodun Akinyanran, reported the incident to the police on Sept. 6, 2022.
He said that Akinyaran reported that the defendants stole three generator batteries worth N300,000, an infinix max vi cellphone worth N65,000, an oraimo air pod worth N28,000.
When the defendants were invited to give account of the missing items, he said, they denied the allegation until the hotels cctv camera was viewed and it was discovered that they carried batteries from the generator room and entered a room in the hotel through the window to steal the other items”, Bassey said.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 287(7) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.A Daodu, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum each.
Daodu adjourned the case until Nov. 10 for trial
