Former Italy and AC Milan defender, Paulo Maldini has attacked the club for signing Super Eagles’ winger Samuel Chukwueze in the summer.
Recall that Chukwueze, 24, joined the Rosoneri from LaLiga club, Villarreal for €30 million in July.
The winger was in good form for Villarreal in the 2022/23 season, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists.
Meanwhile few months at the San Siro, Chukwueze has, however, struggled to replicate the form with AC Milan, managing just one goal in 12 outings across all competitions.
Maldini, who also once worked as AC Milan technical director, insisted that the player has failed to justify his massive transfer fee.
“There was no need to sign Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic, and Chukwueze,” Maldini said in an interview with Italian news outlet La Republica.
“You cannot compare the previous four transfer windows to the last one. Milan had different quality options, unlike this summer.”
Chukwueze is expected to be in action when AC Milan take on Frosinone on Saturday (today).
