The Boys and Men of Honor, a non-profit community organization whose objective is raising Boys to become responsible, Godly and honorable men hosted its first ever Young Men’s Summit themed: The Making of a Man.
The Young Men’s Summit hosted virtually on Saturday, 12th March 2022 focused on what makes a man; the physical, emotional and psychological changes that happens in the life of a boy as he transitions into manhood. The much anticipated summit also focused on parenting for the Boy-Child.
A panel of four men, Mr. Akinloye Oladapo, Mr. Edward Fagbohun, Mr. Lekan Banjo and Mr. Friday David, with Mrs. Adewunmi Alode as the Convener, discussed extensively on real life issues and challenges that affect and impact the life of Boys and Young Men.
The much promoted summit indeed delivered on its promise of it being a time of learning, unlearning and relearning.
The Summit lasted for about 2hours as time seemed insufficient with so much pertinent issues to discuss.
The panelists, albeit all men, praised mothers raising Boys and also in cases where fathers were around but not present or hands-on in raising Boys.
It was not simply an interesting session but a deeply impacting one as the panelists, which varied in ages, shared their personal stories and experiences.
The panel not only did justice to the theme of the summit but also gave tips and action points on how to be a better, honorable man and father.
The summit addressed a lot of key issues that viewers couldn’t have gotten a 100 percent value from by just attending live. The video of the summit is one that should be watched and rewatched for maximum value extraction and it has been made available on the Boys and Men of Honor’s Youtube channel.
One of the key issues discussed is the deliberate and intentional raising of Boys to become responsible, Godly and honorable Men through mentoring, role models, constant communication of values and godly characters.
One of the thought provoking questions attempted by the panel was, “Does success, money, and materialistic achievements define a Man?
The audience left the event refreshed and reinvigorated.
