The London to Lagos biker, David Kunel Adeyanju, has bagged a chieftaincy title, as he arrives his hometown, Offa, Kwara state.
Adeyanju disclosed this on his Facebook, as Itafa Olayemi Olaboye shared a picture of him (cross-country Bider) with the king of Offa kingdom with the caption: “Biker David Kunle Adeyanju bags Aare Aniyikaiye of Offa Kingdom as he arrives hometown.”
The cross-country Biker was honoured with the title by king Oba Mufutau Muhammed Oloyede Gbadamosi (Okikiola Ajagungbade I, Esuwoye II).
He said, “I was conferred the chieftaincy title of Are Aniyikaiye of Offa Land, by his majesty the Olofa of Offa. So when next you see me, pls call me Chief Kunle!”
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) recalls that the Cross-Country Biker embarked on his journey from United Kingdom on April 19, 2022 to create awareness on the fight against polio in Africa. He arrived Lagos on May 29.
He turned off his motorbike engine after completing an arduous 41-day trip to raise funds to fight polio in his native Nigeria.
The 44-year-old departed London on April 19 and arrived in Nigeria’s commercial hub Lagos on Sunday after slogging through more than 13,000 kilometres (8,000 miles) across 13 countries.
The Cross-Country Biker’s aim was to raise funds for Rotary International’s fight against polio, which remains a threat in Africa despite being eradicated in 2020.
“I am sleep-deprived because I slept only three to four hours per night. But I feel proud because I accomplished this challenge,” Adeyanju told AFP just after he arrived, wiping sweat off his face.
“I could have been disposed of but instead, they helped me. Humanity at its best!”
With only three followers on Twitter a few months ago, the Cross-Country Biker now has almost 100,000, catching the attention of the social platform’s CEO.
“Thanks for sharing your inspiring journey with the world on Twitter, and with our @TwitterGhana team. Love to see it #LondonToLagos,” said the tech boss Parag Agrawal.
